Communication: The Dos and Don’ts

In this article, we highlight major communication dos and don’ts that everyone, buyer and seller alike, should be aware of, and apply.

These Dos and Don’ts are insisted upon for your safety.

Adhere to the guidelines below to ensure a safe, comfortable, and convenient marketplace for everyone.  

 

The Dos

  • Make sure to always keep all your payments on Avicii’s platform, as well as the majority of your communications.
  • As we would always like to have your back, please be aware that if you attempt to take any business off Avicii, we cannot ensure your project or business’s safety.
  • Make sure to always use the appropriate language when communicating on Avicii and to constantly remain professional.

Avicii does not condone any bullying, harassment, discrimination, or hate speech.

The Don’ts

Note: If any suspicious behavior arises throughout your conversations, be sure to contact Customer Support immediately. You can also report suspicious messages to be reviewed by our Trust and Safety team using the Report button, as indicated below.

  • Don’t share your passwords, credit card information, SSN, national identification card number, or other private information.
  • Don’t click on any links or attachments that you may receive through instant messaging from unrecognized contacts unless the context is absolutely clear.
  • We also recommend that you always use an antivirus on your device as extra security.
  • Don’t engage in any type of online conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable.
  • If you do receive such a message, DO NOT respond—instead, report the sender to Customer Support immediately.
  • Please avoid the use of remote access tools (e.g. TeamViewer, AnyDesk, etc.) since they allow the second party to potentially take control of your computer.
  • If you do need to use a remote access tool, make sure not to allow any operations. These may cause damage to your computer if accessed by the other party.

Note: Operations that may cause damage include: downloading unfamiliar files or opening untrusted websites.

ID verified sellers

As part of our efforts to keep Avicii a safe place for our community and to conduct business, we often require sellers to verify their identity. 

Identity verification on Avicii may be completed by submitting an ID document. In some cases, we may use other methods to verify one’s identity, in addition to or instead of using an ID document (ex. phone verification).

Please be aware that the verification process relies on information provided by the seller; therefore, we cannot guarantee that they are who they claim to be or that the data provided by them is accurate. We always encourage and enforce that all communication and transactions remain on Avicii—this also allows us to support and assist our buyers and sellers.

Password, Security Question, and 2-Factor Authentication

Important: Customer Support will never ask for your password but may ask you for your security question’s answer in specific situations (e.g., to verify account ownership).

This is always managed through an official Customer Support request.

About your password

How to manage your account security settings?

Remember to always keep your personal security settings information private. Your password is personal and private, and should never be shared with anyone.

 

Your Avicii account’s password is created during the sign-up process and will be used for logging into your account.

How to change your password

To change or update your password, if you remember and have access to it:

  1. Account page > edit password 

If you forgot your password

Note: If you don’t have access to your registered email address, and can’t log into your account, please contact Customer Support to assist you.

 

If you forgot your password and would like to reset it:

1.     Go to Avicii.store, click on Sign in > Continue with username/email.

2.     Click on Forgot password. 

  1. Enter your email address > click on Reset password.

4.     If the email matches the account, a password reset email will be sent to that address.

If you signed up using a social connect button and don’t know your password:

  1. Follow the instructions above, and reset your password through the Forgot Password link.

Security Questions

Important: Customer Support will only ask for the answer to your security question to verify account ownership.

To increase your account security, we recommend that you set up a security question.

You will be asked this question when making specific changes within your account settings so be sure that the answer is something only you would know.

Two-Factor Authentication

To increase your account security, set up two-factor authentication.

Whenever you log in through a new device, you will receive a code via the registered email address (default), verified phone number (if the account is phone verified), or to another device where you sign into Avicii.

Set up or disable Two-Factor Authentication.

  1. Click your account page > 2-factor authentication.
  2. Under TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION, activate/deactivate.

 

Note: Two-factor authentication can’t be completely removed from your account.

If you disable it, you’ll still get notifications of new sign-ins from different devices, but you won’t be asked to provide a login code.

 

  1. The code is sent to your registered email address by default. However, if you wish to receive a code to your phone—phone verify your account.

How we use your data

The collection and processing of ID cards are required to ensure a trustworthy community and marketplace, to enforce our terms of service, and in order to comply with applicable safety laws.

We assure you that the identification card won’t be used for any other purpose—including marketing purposes—nor shared with other users.

The copy of your identification card is only kept for as long as required—and for the required purpose explained above.

We take great care in maintaining the security of the site and your information. If you believe that your ID is not necessary for the mentioned purposes, you can open a Customer Support ticket.

ID verification: Data protection and usage

To create a safe and secure marketplace for our community, Avicii often requests sellers to verify their identity with their official government ID.

We take great care in maintaining the security of the site and your information. How do we do that, though? By implementing security measures and using industry-standard technologies and internal procedures. These methods help prevent unauthorized access to your information.

 

 

How we use your data

The collection and processing of ID cards are required to ensure a trustworthy community and marketplace, as well as, enforce our terms of service.

The process allows us, for example, to:

  • Improve trust in the marketplace and Gig quality
  • Secure our service and prevent fraud (ex. misleading sellers)
  • Recover hijacked accounts—ensure ownership of sellers’ accounts
  • Ensure that users are above 18 years of age
  • Ensure that users comply with applicable laws 

The benefits and importance of ID Verification

With ID verification, we are committed to ensuring high standards of security for both you and our community.

 

We assure you that your identification card won’t be used for any other purpose—including marketing purposes—nor shared with other users. The copy of your identification card is only kept for as long as required, due to the stated safety purposes.

 

Procedures. If you believe that your ID is not necessary for the mentioned purposes, you can open a Customer Support ticket.

Data Retention

The copy of your identification document and your selfie are only kept for 30 days.

Once the 30-day period has ended, we’ll only retain your name, date of birth, hashed ID number, type of identification document, and document country.

The copy of your identification document and the personal information you provided when performing the ID verification process are kept to verify your account or the identity you reported to us and create a safe and secure marketplace for our community.

 

Please note: You may always ask us to delete this information. In some cases, it may result in restrictions on your account.
